BlackBerry does not give up: launches three new smartphones

The Canadian company goes through its worst era after the US Senate, its main customer, announced that it would stop using the devices of the company after ten years of exclusivity.

The Classic model will no longer feature after twenty years, but facing an uncertain future where it is anticipated that after burning the last cartridge, BlackBerry leaves the mobile sector in order to focus on enterprise network services.

Blackberry returns to the set. The Canadian company is already working on the launch of three new handsets with Android. It seems like Priv, their first smartphone with the operating system of Google, has not given bad result.

Although the company has not specified the sales of the terminal, yes they unveiled, as published by “Cnet” the results of its last fiscal quarter (October to December 2015), which shows they sold aprox. 600,000 phones. A figure which, although below expectations, stood at the margin of terminals for the company and were not as dramatic. Blackberry says they are working long and hard to revive a market that is already more than saturated.

Perhaps because hope is the last thing you lose, as published exclusively by VentureBeat the Canadians have already planned a new strategy: the launch of three new Android phones. Neon, Argon and Mercury are the new stars of Blackberry. This is how they have dubbed the smartphones that come to light in the next three quarters.

According to published information, BlackBerry Neon will be the first one to launch between July and August. This is a low-average smartphone with a  range of 5.2 inch full touch screen (no physical keyboard) with a Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a battery of 2,610 mAh. The front camera would be 8MP and the main 13MP.

In October Argon be launched. It will also featurefull touch screen, 5.5 inch QHD resolution screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage processor and 3000 mAh battery, which also comes with the charging system QuickCharge 3.0 and VentureBead fingerprint reader, USB connector type C, 21 megapixel main camera and 8MP front.

Finally, Mercury. This smartphone will show up in the market in the first quarter of 2017 and it will be the only terminal company with QWERTY physical keyboard, as Priv. Therefore, the user has the option to handle the phone with the virtual or physical keyboard. However, in this upcoming model, the physical keyboard won’t hide whilst in Priv it slides to gain space on the screen. Remember therefore, the BlackBerry Passport.

Mercury will have a 4.5 inch screen with HD resolution and aluminium siding. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory 3,400 mAh battery, 18-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front.

Goodbye to its most loyal customer
Now let’s wait and see what the acceptance of these terminals is on the market. And more after last Wednesday, the US Senate, the main client for BlackBerry, announced that it would stop using the devices of the company after ten years of exclusivity. A measure that will undoubtedly have economic impact in the coming economic performance.

Barack Obama, the current US president, has always used a Blackberry. Now, according to Ars Technica he will use a Samsung Galaxy S4, a model 2013. The senators therefore cease to have Blackberry for professional issues and will manage iPhones or Samsung terminals, for mainly security reasons.

End a Classic model twenty years later????
The future of the company, for now, it is doubtful in the field of mobile phones, where they had a modest place although very important that placed them at the forefront of mobile communications. BlackBerry is about to close a chapter. After twenty years in the market, they have announced that the BlackBerry Classic model, known for it’s physical keyboard will stop producing.

After seeing how the Android operating system succeeded, the company’s future hangs by a thread. No market share in mobile telephone industry, is hopeless. Network services, infrastructures for businesses and collaboration with other company in the industry will become the pillars of a firm that embodies nostalgia and that for years was the greatest phenomenon in the history of consumer technology. This BlackBerry 10 operating system is practically finalised.
