Apple and Samsung tied as the world’s largest smartphone makers in Q4 2014. Latest figures show that Apple and Samsung tied during Q4 2014 to become the world’s largest smartphone maker, based upon global shipments, as reported from Strategy Analytics.
According to reports, both Apple and Samsung shipped 74.5 million smartphones during the last October – December quarter.
Apple’s number is an official figure whereas Samsung’s is an estimate due to the fact that the company stopped reporting their smartphone’s shipments a few years ago. The last time Apple and Samsung were tied was in Q4 2014.
Apple experienced a record breaking first quarter due to the staggering sales of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The larger screen size has been the top selling point for many customers, customers which include plenty Android converters.
Samsung reported a 27% quarterly decline in earnings earlier today, this is mainly due to tough competition from Apple and the upcoming Chinese rivals along the lines of Huawei and Xiaomi.
