Does Taylor Swift have “Bad Blood” with Apple?

Yesterday Taylor Swift took to her tumblr page to address her concerns about Apple’s new streaming service ‘Apple Music ‘in an open letter. This is not the first time that the 25 year old has spoke against streaming services, in November of last year Swift removed all of her albums from the streaming service Spotify after commenting that the business had “shrunk the numbers of paid album sales drastically”.

In the open letter which you can find here the artist stated that “this deserves an explanation because Apple has been and will continue to be one of my best partners in selling music and creating ways for me to connect with my fans.” When stating this Swift is referring to Apple’s free three months period after the launch of Apple Music.

The reason that this is so important to Taylor is that within that three month period Apple were not planning on paying the artists for their music.

Apple have stated that they were going to pay the artists higher royalties for their music due to the free period.

Another comment Swift made was “We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation.”

The singers post swept all social media platforms and was shared by many other artists and of course Swift’s fans. Due to this publicity Apple have now changed their policy and will now pay the artists involved with Apple Music for the three month free trial. Swift tweeted that she was ‘elated and relieved’ by the result. “They listened to us.” she said.
